Brian Jager

Brian Jager (May 4, 1963-April 6, 2001) 

Brian Alan Jager, 37, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died of chronic myelogenous leukemia Friday, April 6, 2001, at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls.  Mr. Jager was born May 4, 1963, in Sioux City, the son of John and Lila (Millage) Jager.  He was raised in Sioux City and graduated from North High School in 1981, where he was active in basketball having played in state tournaments. Following high school, he attended Northwest Iowa Technical College.

He married Melody Knauer on Jan. 21, 1983, in Sioux Falls. The couple made their home in Colorado, where he was employed as an electrician with Runell Electric. In 1986, they moved to Sioux Falls, where he was employed as an electrician with John Morrell & Co.  He was employed with John Morrell at the time of his death, even though he had suffered from his illness for the past year.

He coached basketball at the YMCA and would play basketball with the youth at the Bowden Youth Center and coached baseball for the Sioux Falls Baseball Association. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and close friends.

His survivors include his wife, Melody, three sons, Nicholas, Chad and Cody, all of Sioux Falls; his mother, Lila Jager of Sioux City, his brother, John Jager of Sioux City, and two sisters, Diana Kinsey of Ankeny, Iowa and his twin, Brenda Woodbury of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his father less than one year.
